The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Tayabas City headed by Engr. Cyril A. Coliflores conducted Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) activities in the barangays within its protected areas – Brgy. Silangang Malicboy, Pagbilao, Quezon for Binahaan River Watershed Forest Reserve (BRWFR), Brgy. Sipa, Padre Burgos, Quezon for Quezon Protected Landscape (QPL) and Brgy. Pinagbayanan, Pagbilao, Quezon for Palsabangon Mangrove Swamp Forest Reserve (PMSFR) on May 12-13, 2022.

Coliflores, who is also the Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) of the three (3) protected areas of CENRO Tayabas highlighted that the target barangays are within the mentioned protected areas.  He also encouraged the participation and support of everyone for the continuous protection and conservation of protected areas. He stressed that “Kabalikat po kayo ng DENR sa pagpapatupad ng mga batas at pagpapaunlad ng kapaligiran dahil tayo ang kalikasan.”

The main objective of CEPA is to convey vital information regarding the said protected areas to the target residents and officials of the barangays. The Republic Act no. 11038 or the Enhanced National Integrated Protected Area System (ENIPAS) Act of 2018, the Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Conservation and Protected Act of 2001, and the importance of the protected areas are just some of the topics discussed during those activities.
