In line with the International Earth Day celebration, the Taytay Municipal Office, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), conducted activities in accordance with this year’s theme, “Invest in our planet” at Don Hilario Cruz Avenue, Barangay San Juan, Taytay, Rizal.

The activities included a Kick-Off Run, BaZumbaRaffle, Seeds Giving, Face Painting, and Upcycling. The celebration was participated by the Key Officials of the Municipality of Taytay, Mayor Joric Gacula, Vice Mayor Mitch Bermundo, and Councilors Ms. Joan Calderon, Mr. Patrick Alcantara, Mr. Papoo Cruz, and Ms. Jeca Villanueva. The volunteers from different Offices of Taytay Municipal, such as the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Police and Agriculture Units, students from various secondary schools, and nearby bystanders actively joined.

PENRO Rizal engages all the participants, specifically the youth, in upcycling activities. Engaging the youth in various upcycling initiatives shall help reduce waste generation, especially since Solid Waste Management is an alarming environmental concern.

The said event raised awareness of environmental protection and conservation through the engagement of the community to join in environmental campaign activities.
