Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria presides over the meeting of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of Mulanay Watershed Forest Reserve (MWFR) in San Francisco, Quezon, Buenavista Protected Landscape (BPL) in Mulanay, Quezon, and Alibijaban Wilderness Area (AWA) in San Andres, Quezon on March 10-11, 2022.

RED Tamoria, who serves as the PAMB Chairperson, shall attend at most 17 PAMB meetings every quarter within the CALABARZON Region.

PAMB meetings are conducted every quarter of the year to discuss all issues and concerns in the management and operations within a particular PA. The PAMB is the management body which, by consensus, shall make necessary actions for the operations of a Protected Area through an approved resolution during PAMB Meetings.

On the first day, RED Tamoria attended the PAMB meeting of MWFR in San Francisco, Quezon and proceeded to Mulanay, Quezon for the meeting for BPL.

In the PAMB meeting of MWFR, MENRO Rico Edades suggested having a temporary nursery within the multiple use zone of MWFR where they will germinate quality seeds of endemic species present in the area. This shall also enable them to source out quality planting materials for their future tree growing activity in San Francisco, Quezon. Consistent with its goal, RED Tamoria said that PA personnel will assess possible seed production areas within MWFR for its purpose.

In the PAMB meeting of BPL, in which the archeological site is being protected other than its flora and fauna, RED Tamoria said that in order to have a harmonized plan for protection and eco-tourism, the PAMB shall make a separate plan for ecotourism to include in the updating of the management plan of BPL.

In the PAMB meeting held in San Andres, Quezon for Alibijaban Wilderness Area (AWA), APASu Herbert Y. Hutamares presented the IPAF revenue of AWA. Relative to the IPAF utilization, Tourism Officer Anjo Miguel Banquiles proposed to have an information drive for the general public and proposed other projects like boardwalk, as it may also add revenue for AWA.
