In observance of the World Wildlife Day 2022 with a theme “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration'', DENR PENRO Cavite, in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ternate, steered the clean-up activity along the roadside going to Mts. Palay-Palay-Mataas-na-Gulod Protected Landscape (MPPMNGPL) in Ternate-Maragondon, Cavite on March 08, 2022. It was also part of the month-long celebration of Women's Month and a continuing effort of the department in protecting the habitat of the wildlife in the pursuit of biodiversity conservation. Participants wore purple shirts as a symbolic color in honoring the extraordinary role of women in the society as leaders and forerunners of change.

The clean-up activity was led by PENR Officer Januel R. Peras together with Chief, MSD Ma. Joy Grace S. Sazon and Chief, TSD Reynaldo A. Belen with special participation of men and women employees of PENRO Cavite. The occasion was graced by no less than the ARD for Special Concerns Jose Elmer C. Bascos and ARD for Management Services Ronita A. Unlayao.

PENRO Peras said.

The clean-up drive aims to clean the habitat of wildlife along the road approximately 1 kilometer away from the Project Management Office of MPPMNGPL going to Puerto Azul. A total of 315 kilograms, consisting of 195 kgs of non-biodegradable wastes such as cigarette butts, plastic wrappers and sachets; 30 kgs of recyclables; 45 kgs of special wastes; 30 kgs of residuals; and 15 kgs of biodegradable wastes were collected and directly hauled by Ternate Municipal Garbage collector.

After the clean-up activity, the participants actively joined the Zumba dance as an act of practicing health and wellness habits to attain a better physical and mental health. ###
