Forest Technician II Mark Andrew M. Mapula of Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) of CENRO Calauag, Quezon, informed the community of Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Calauag, Quezon the existing laws and policies relative to the protection of forests and environmental conservation through an Information, Education, and Communication Campaign (IEC). Some of the laws tackled in the IEC were the RA 8749 (Clean Air Act); RA 9275 (Clean Water Act); RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act); RA 9147 (Wildlife Protection and Conservation Act); RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act); salient features of PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines); and Executive Order No. 23 (Declaring a Moratorium on the Cutting and Harvesting of Timber in the Natural and Residual Forests and Creating the Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force). Afterwards, an open forum was undertaken, of which the queries raised by the participants were all answered by CENRO Calauag MES personnel.
