Los Baños, Laguna – In line with the celebration of World Wetlands Day 2022 with this year’s theme “Wetlands Action for People and Nature”, PENRO Laguna through its Conservation and Development Section (CSD) led a clean-up activity in Tadlac Lake – Brgy. Masili, Calamba City on 10 February 2022.

The conducted clean-up drive is designed to bring together a multi-sectoral taskforce to spearhead the promotion of a healthier and well-maintained Tadlac Lake. At least 30 volunteers from PENRO Laguna, local government unit of Masili, Calamba City and local communities participated. Prior to the clean-up activity, a short program and lecture was conducted in Barangay Hall of Masili, Calamba City. “Ang latian ay mahalaga sa buhay ng bawat tao”, PENRO Saños emphasized during the delivery of his message.

In the same lecture, milestones, accomplishments, and various activities implemented and undertaken which are reflected in the Tadlac Lake Management Plan were discussed and reported. After the clean-up activity, eight (8) sacks with approximately 80 kilograms, where mainly residual wastes, were collected.

Tadlac Lake, colloquially known as Alligator Lake, is one of the eight (8) crater lakes found within the watershed of Laguna de Bay. It is located in Brgy. Tadlac, Los Baños, Laguna.  It is a very small lake with a surface area of 248,000 m2 and a mean depth of 27 meters. Said lake is currently facing environmental issues among which is the continuous deterioration of its water quality.
