Los Banos, Laguna – On September 21, 2021, personnel from the Enforcement and Monitoring Section of PENRO Laguna proceeded to Dila, Bay, Laguna for the turn-over and rescue of one (1) monitor lizard (Varanus bitatawa). It was turned-over by Mr. Bernaldo Baustista and Ms. Robelyn Bautista, who coordinated with the DENR CALABARZON Action Center, according to them, the said monitor lizard was roaming around their backyard and in fear that it may be captured or killed, they opted to rescue it and turned it over to the DENR.

The monitor lizard was in good condition, weighed 3.8 kilograms and has a total length of 148 centimeters. On the same day, PENRO Laguna turned it over to the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center located in Brgy. Lamot II, Calauan, Laguna for safe keeping and proper release to its natural environment at.
