In celebration of the World Mangrove Day 2020, CENRO Calaca headed by OIC-CENRO Isagani Amatorio, conducted mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-up  within the locally managed Mangrove Protected Area located in Barangay  Lumaniag, Lian, Batangas.

The activities were held last July 24, 2020. Prior to the conduct of the activity, an IEC lecture was done highlighting the importance of Mangrove forests and existing forest laws related to it.

The activity was participated in by : CENRO Calaca employees and personnel,  Alvin Jonson ( MENRO of Lian)  ; representatives of the LGUs of Brgy Lumaniag headed by Brgy Captain Edgar Jonson, Lian Fisherfolk Association and other residents of the barangay.

A total of 50 seedlings of Avicennia spp. (Kalapinay ) and Aegiceras sp. (Saging-saging) were planted in the area and 10 sacks of solid wastes /garbage  were collected during the coastal clean-up.

Participants strictly observed and practiced the safety and health precautionary measures such as wearing of face masks and observance of 1.5 m social distancing during the conduct of the said activities. ###
