DENR-PENRO Cavite conducted a New Year’s call ceremony for its employees January 4, 2024, led by Cavite PENR Officer Januel R. Peras together with Management Services Division Chief Ma. Joy Grace S. Sazon and Technical Services Division Chief Reynaldo A. Belen.

The ceremony serves as an opportunity for the department to renew its pledge to its mandate and to present its way forward plans and programs for 2024 per assessment of the office’s performance from the previous year.

PENRO Peras highlighted the seven key priority directions of Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga: 1) adopt a climate risk lens in national planning and policies, 2) increase forest cover, 3) conserve protected areas and biodiversity resources, 4) improve air and water quality and waste management, 5) ensure water security and resilience in high water-stressed areas, 6) sustainably and responsibly manage mineral resources, and 7) promote effective land management and governance.

He also presented the operational directives and priorities of the DENR CALABARZON based on the seven key priority directions of the Secretary: a) development projects, b) human resources and organizational development, c) accessible ENR information system and geospatial data, d) stronger multi-stakeholder relations, e) strong and positive identity of the region, and f) hosting of the Asia-pacific ministerial conference on disaster risk reduction.

“While the challenges ahead seem daunting, may we use this new year as an opportunity to harness our collective will and take bold actions in protecting the environment for future generations who will inherit the legacy of our work,” he said.

PENRO Peras ended his message with a quotation from Rick Warren that says, “Without a purpose, life is motion without meaning, activity without direction, and events without reason.”  ###
