Calamba City, Laguna – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region IV-A (CALABARZON) Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria presided over the first meeting of the Water Supply and Sanitation Ad Hoc Committee of Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure Development of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of CALABARZON on April 24, 2023, via Zoom teleconferencing.

The agenda of the meeting were the presentations of the Water Supply and Sanitation Ad Hoc Committee’s Terms of Reference by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) IV-A, and CALABARZON implementation updates of the Philippine Water Supply and Sanitation Masterplan by the Investment Programming Group of NEDA.

Moreover, RED Tamoria provided updates on the creation of the Water Resources Management Office (WRMO). The WRMO will be attached to the Office of the President, and DENR will serve as the temporary body while the Water Resources Department is being created. President Bongbong Marcos Jr. has already signed an Executive Order creating the WRMO.

WRMO tasks to campaign the passage of the law creating the Office, and to closely collaborate with all relevant agencies, including Local Government Units, the private sector, civil society and the communities. In addition, WRMO handles ecological threats through collaborative efforts from all sectors of society.

The Planning and Management Division Chief Cynthia Rozaldo and selected staff assisted Tamoria during the meeting.###
