Calamba City, Laguna - The 3rd Quarter Meeting of the Regional Forest Multi-sectoral Forest Protection Committee (RMFPC) of CALABARZON was held last August 18, 2022 at Ynares Multipurpose Hall, Antipolo City, Rizal. 

Prior to the meeting, a ceremonial planting of Bamboo seedlings in Hinilugang Taktak Protected Landscape (HTPL) was conducted. Ten Bamboo seedlings were planted by RMFPC Chairperson Manuel Eugenio A. Beloso, Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Quezon, OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Alfredo C. Palencia, Provincial ENR Officer of Rizal Ramil Limpiada, and other members of the RMFPC. 

PENRO Limpiada shared “ito pong symbolic tree planting activity na ito ng RMFPC ng CALABARZON ay mahalaga upang mag-iwan ng marka dito sa probinsya ng Rizal. Nariyan po ang ating mga itinanim na aalagaan ng mga tiga rito at balang araw naka-record na po iyan, kung sino man po ang mga pumunta rito mayroon silang kontribusyon dito po sa lugar. Napakahalaga po nito sa probinsya ng Rizal at ang mga gawain ng RMFPC.”

The tree planting was initiated by the current Chairperson of RMFPC PG-ENRO Beloso. He said that Antipolo City is considered one of the cleanest cities in the country. “Ang atin pong gagawin ngayon ay nawa’y magsilbing simbolo ng tunay na pangangalaga sa Inang Kalikasan” Beloso cited. 

The meeting was attended by the members and representatives of the Committee from various government agencies and stakeholders in the CALABARZON Region, such as the Philippine National Police, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Labor and Employment, Southern Luzon State University, Makiling Center for Mountains Ecosystems- University of the Philippines Los Baños, and Philippine Coast Guard. 

The accomplishments of sub-committee members in relation to forest and environmental protection activities were discussed during the meeting. The list of spot reports in the region was presented by PNP PRO IV-A PMC Arian Perez. According to the report, there are 24 cases filed by the PNP in violation of Presidential Decree 705 also known as the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines in CALABARZON.   

Other topics were also discussed such as the SLEX TR4 Project of DPWH, the Center for Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping (CHERM) of DOST 4A and SLSU, and tree planting activities of the graduating students of SLSU. The 4th Quarter meeting will be hosted by the province of Quezon.
