The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON through the Manila Bay Site Coordinating/Management Office 4 (MBSCMO4) awarded two-layered compost tumblers to selected barangays in Tanauan, Batangas and Bacoor, Cavite from July 14-27, 2020.

On July 14, 2020, the DENR CALABARZON awarded nine units of two-layered compost tumblers to Barangays Poblacion III and VI, Tanauan, Batangas. The following week, on July 23, 2020, Barangays Queens Row Central, Queens Row West and Queens Row East, Bacoor, Cavite were each given 10 units of compost tumblers. In the same way, ten units of the fully-sealed containers were donated to Barangays Molino I, Molino II, Molino III and Molino IV, Bacoor, Cavite on July 27, 2020.

Regional Executive Director Nonito Tamayo said the awarding of compost tumblers aims to promote waste segregation and highlight composting.

“This (compost tumber) is specially designed for those communities without area for composting. This can be of great help in the community and the environment dahil mapapaunti nito ang volume ng basura na itinatapon sa sanitary landfill at ang compost na mapo-produce nito ay maaari pang gawing pataba sa mga gulayan at halamanan,” DENR-MBSCMO4 Deputy Regional Coordinator, Cynthia N. Rozaldo said.
