To celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Battle for Manila Bay this January, a series of cleanup activities will be conducted around CALABARZON. DENR CENRO Lipa headed the kick off with a river clean up in San Juan River in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

More than 150 volunteers from various stakeholders such as the Philippine Coast Guard Light Industry and Science Park-III, Aruze Philippines Manufacturing Inc., Lima Technology Center, Toyota Batangas, Philippine Statistics Authority (Region 4A) - Lipa City, Batangas, PNP Batangas/BPPO, City Environment and Natural Resources Office - Sto. Tomas, Barangay Officials and volunteers from the said Barangay (BSPO, BHW, VAWC), DENR-PENRO Batangas, DENR-CENRO Lipa, and DENR CALABARZON Regional Office participated.

A total of 105 sacks weighing 3,150 kgs were collected along the 150 meters stretch of the San Juan river. The wastes were collected by the City ENRO for proper disposal.

Upcoming cleanup activities will be in Taytay, Rizal on January 17; Calamba City, Laguna on January 24; and the culminating clean up activity will be held on January 26 in Rosario, Cavite.
