The DENR CALABARZON participated in the celebration of the Economic and Financial Literacy Week 2019, organized by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) CALABARZON.

The Economic and Financial Literacy Forum with the theme “Our planet’s health, the future’s wealth”, was conducted on November 14, 2019, at the Laguna State Polytechnic University, Santa Cruz Campus. 

The forum, which was attended by students, LGUs, and other agencies, focused on Ambisyon Natin 2040 and the CALABARZON Regional Development Plan 2017-2022, Sustainable Consumption and Production Framework and Action Plan, and lectures focusing on Savings, Investment, and Avoiding Investment Scams. Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a long-term vision for the Philippines for the next 25 years. The goal is for all Filipinos to enjoy a strongly rooted, comfortable, and secure life (Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na buhay).

The NEDA developed a Regional Development Framework to help achieve this vision. The foundations of the framework are: (1) Ensuring peace and security, (2) Accelerate strategic infrastructure and development, (3) Ensure safety and build resilience, and (4) Ensure ecological integrity, clean and healthy environment.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, it is projected that the world population will reach 140 million by 2040. NEDA, Assistant Regional Director Gina Gacusan presented a 10-Year Framework for sustainable consumption and production. She reminded the participants, “Dapat walang sayang”.

NEDA CALABARZON Director Luis Banua shared that he is sure that the 2040 vision can be achieved provided with the correct policies, as well as the active involvement of other agencies.
