DENR-PENRO Cavite, together with the DENR CALABARZON Environment and Natural Resources Academy (ENRA) Batch 2023 Frontline and Basic Course students, conducted a cleanup activity along the roadside going to the PENRO building in Trece Martires, Cavite on January 12, 2024 in observance of the National Zero Waste Month. It was led by For. Rexmel Telan, class president of ENRA Basic Course.

A total of five trash bags of non-biodegradable wastes were collected during the activity. The collected wastes were directly hauled by Brgy. Gregorio Waste Collector.

One unit of trash bin bearing the tagline “Basura mo, Shoot mo dito” was also installed along the roadside near the office. Said tagline serves as a catchy medium for collecting waste as most of the garbage observed within the compound are plastic bottles and plastic cups. It aims to encourage the stakeholders to get involved in the proper waste management and disposal in accordance with RA 9003 or the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.”

Proclamation No. 760 dated May 05, 2014 declared the month of January of every year as “Zero Waste Month” to guide the people in changing their practices towards a zero-waste lifestyle. ###
