DENR-CENRO Calauag participated in a consultative workshop on the preparation of the 3-year Provincial Forward Plan for CY 2024-2026 held at Queen Margarette Hotel, Brgy. Domoit, Lucena City on January 30, 2023.

The said workshop was spearheaded by DENR-PENRO Quezon and attended by various stakeholders. The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENROs) and People’s Organizations (POs) within the jurisdiction of CENRO Calauag, Quezon were among the participants.

Quezon PENR Officer, Ronilo Salac; Management Services Division Chief, Galo Martinez, Jr.; Technical Services Division Chief, Julieta P. Narte; Quezon Provincial Environmental Monitoring Officer, Glyceria Verzo; Conservation and Development Section Chief, Josephine Barrion; Regulatory and Permitting Section Chief, Corazon Ramos; Monitoring and Enforcement Section Chief, Janeth Salazar; Provincial NGP Coordinator, Hernan Merilo; Planning Section Chief, Ana Liza Amparo; and all PENRO planning staff facilitated in the formulation of the plan.

The plan aims to identify the necessary programs and priority activities with their corresponding budget allocations required for the implementation and adoption in the next three years, further addressing the concerns of Local Government Units and other stakeholders.

Calauag CENR Officer Joselito D. Barros, together with the section chiefs and focal persons under CENRO Calauag, as well as representatives from the municipalities of Plaridel, Pitogo, Tagkawayan and Calauag, identified various programs and activities that need prioritization and funding.

Moreover, the plans and initiatives of other stakeholders, such as the People’s Organizations, were also incorporated in the plan.

Meanwhile, the designated MENR Officer of Tagkawayan, Maribel Rosana, expressed the willingness of their municipality to adopt the established 25-hectare National Greening Program plantation in Brgy. Kinatakutan Tagkawayan, Quezon. She said their office is willing to take charge of the funding of the said project.

Outputs of the consultation workshop included forward estimates for FY 2024-2026, including major activities under General Administration and Support Services; Support to Operations; Regulatory, Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Management Program; Protected Area Development and Management; Wildlife Resources and Conservation Sub-program; and Land Management Sub-program.  

The recently concluded activity paved the way to address other issues and concerns of the stakeholders of the DENR. Hence, it is expected to strengthen cooperation among the DENR and its stakeholders in attaining the department’s goals and objectives.
