DENR-CENRO Sta. Cruz conducted a clean-up activity in Brgy. Sulib Pangil, Laguna in celebration of World Wetlands Day. A total of 53 participants from Balian Community College, Local Government of Pangil, Laguna, and DENR-CENRO Sta. Cruz participated in the said activity. 30 sacks (350 kgs) of solid waste composed of residuals (150 kg) and non-biodegradable (200 kg) were collected along a 200 m-stretch of Pangil River.

February 2 of every year was declared as National Wetlands Day pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 74, series of 1999 in recognition of the immense importance of wetlands to the welfare of the Filipino people and the protection of global biodiversity.
