PENRO Quezon spearheaded a tree hugging activity with Agila Kalikasan (AK) 47 at Quezon Protected Landscape (QPL), Brgy. Silangang Malicboy, Pagbilao, Quezon on February 17, 2023. The event was participated in by 44 people, 23 females and 21 males.

The tree hugging activity is part of DENR's Tree Hugging Campaign which aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees and their roles in preserving the environment. The campaign also provides awareness on the benefits of tree hugging to a person’s well-being.

Mr. Galo C. Martinez, Chief MSD of PENRO Quezon, gave a brief talk about the importance of trees and the need to protect our forests. He expressed his delight in partnering with Agila Kalikasan AK 47 in this tree hugging activity and hoped for a continued partnership and support for more environmental activities with them.

PENRO Ronilo L. Salac talked about the objectives of the activity and how the Tree Hugging Campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees. He encouraged more people to take action to protect our environment and ensure its sustainability for the present and future generations.

After the talk, the participants proceeded to the different areas in QPL, where they hugged some indigenous trees, expressed their appreciation for the natural environment, and took solo and group photos. Some promotional materials about climate change and cleaner air were distributed to the participants.
