Two (2) heads of Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius) were turned over to DENR CENRO Lipa by the City Government of Sto. Tomas, Batangas on November 22, 2022. The custody of wildlife was transferred to the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center on the same day for provision of proper care and monitoring.

The said wildlife were victims of illegal trade/trafficking hence, suspect for violation of Republic Act No. 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act) was detained in Santo Tomas City Police Station. Appropriate charges were filed by the Sto. Tomas City - PNP and DENR-CENRO against the perpetrator.  The DENR CENRO Lipa continuously strengthens its institutional partnerships with the local government units and other government agencies particularly focused on protection and conservation of wildlife and other natural resources.
