Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 s. 1990, declaring the month of October of every year as the National Statistics Month, and Memorandum Circular No. 2022-14 issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the DENR CALABARZON joins the nation in celebrating the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) with the theme, “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies”  by spearheading significant activities including the 6th Regional Statistical Quiz Contest held at the DENR Ground Floor Conference Hall, Brgy. Mayapa, Calamba City, Laguna.

During the said Quiz Contest, the general knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving capabilities of the participants were tested. The questions involved statistical data regarding the current state of our natural resources, and other general information relative to environment management, conservation and protection.

The participants proved their competence and intellect as they competitively answer each question in every round using the Quiziz Application. Hence, among the participating offices, CENRO Calauag Office represented by Forest Ranger Charlene U. Fidel aced the three (3) rounds of the QuizCon and secured the top place.

Meanwhile, the competition heated-up in the last round where the contestants from PENRO Quezon and Conservation and Development Division (CDD) obtained the same score and competed for the 3rd spot in the clincher round. At the end of the competition, the second and third place were bagged by the Regional Office-Enforcement Division and PENRO Quezon, respectively.

The said celebration specifically aims to promote camaraderie among the employees. Furthermore, this is in line with the goal to enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and to elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

Moreover, the activity was lived streamed through the official Facebook Page of DENR CALABARZON. Other significant activities/contests including “StaTiktok para sa Kalikasan” involving Grade 9 students; and “The Amazing Race: Statistics Edition”, were also facilitated by the Regional Office as part of this year’s celebration of Statistics Month.
