As part of the marine turtle conservation efforts of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Calaca, maintenance of marine turtle nesting sites was conducted in Brgy. Mataas na Kahoy, Lemery Batangas on November 11, 2022.

Coastal areas of Brgy. Natipuan, Lemery Batangas was identified as a nesting site for some Marine Turtle species mostly Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) which is classified as an Endangered Species through DENR Administrative Order 2019-09. This species is unlikely to survive in the wild if threats to its survival continue operating. Thus, CENRO Calaca continues to raise awareness and promote community participation on marine turtle conservation through efforts on its maintenance and protection activities including coastal clean-ups, establishment of marine turtle hatcheries, and monitoring.
