Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by and between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources CALABARZON and the City of Calaca, Batangas for the Joint Implementation of the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) happened on October 19, 2022 at the Calaca City Hall.

The activity is in line with the Executive Order No. 318 (Promoting Sustainable Forest Management in the Philippines) which aims to integrate FLUP into the Comprehensive Land Use (CLUP) of the Local Government to provide direction on the proper management of forests in their jurisdiction.

Present in the event are DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director, Nilo B. Tamoria, Calaca City Mayor, Hon. Sofronio C. Ona Jr., OIC-PENRO Batangas Noel Recillo, OIC-CENRO Calaca Isagani Amatorio, OIC-City ENRO Christopher Arandia, CPDC Carlo Enrique A. Soriano and other staff of DENR and LGU Calaca.

Mayor Ona expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to the DENR in supporting the implementation of the FLUP, “Rest assured that the Local Government Unit if Calaca will abide and follow all consisted in the MOA and we will treat it as something sacred for the environment”, he said.

“Very timely na naging syudad na po ang Calaca, at ito pong plano na ito ay isang mahalang dokumento na pag mamayari ng City Government para po sa magiging development plan ng ating syudad”, as RED Tamoria points out the importance of FLUP in updating the CLUP of City of Calaca. 

The LGU Calaca, Batangas legitimized and adopted the FLUP through Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 22-06, dated September 19, 2022.
