PENRO Quezon launches Ecological Solid Waste Management Campaign

DALUBHASAAN NG LUNGSOD NG LUCENA - PENRO Quezon, in partnership with the City Government of Lucena and Lucena City Youth Development Office launches the Ecological Solid Waste Management Advocacy (ESWM) Campaign held at Dalubhasaang ng Lungsod ng Lucena.

It was attended by 50 student leaders of Dalubhasaang ng Lungsod ng Lucena (DLL) and officials of DENR-Regional Office, PENRO Quezon, CENRO Catanauan, CENRO Tayabas, CENRO Calauag, CENRO Real, EMB Quezon and the City Government of Lucena.

The ESWM Advocacy Campaign launched Pinas: The Basura Buster Mascot and Basura Buster Mobile Game App. The game app is downloadable for Android phone users, which can be played by anyone, even the younger generation. The Pinas Basura Buster Mascot is the modern-day garbage man, equipped with special upcycled weaponry to keep the environment clean.

This campaign aims to improve public knowledge on effective waste management and disposal and to influence behavior, particularly among young people. Part of the launch was a solid waste management lecture given by Provincial Environmental Management Officer Gliceria S. Verzo. There was also dancing led by Pinas Basura Buster Mascot, questions and answers, and  signing of a pledge of commitment at the end of the program.

Present in the said campaign are Chief MSD of PENRO Quezon Galo C. Martinez Jr, PEMO of EMB Quezon Gliceria S. Verzo, Chief TSD of PENRO Quezon Julieta P. Narte, DLL President Dr. Charmaine Lagustan, Lucena Youth Development Officer Jordan B. Romulo, OIC, General Services Office Head of City of Lucena Alyssa Marie Mijares and Office of the Student Affairs Coordinator, DLL Ryan Alemania.
