In observance of the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) and National Clean-up Month 2022 with a theme, “Fighting for trash-free seas, Pilipinas! Ending the flow of the trash at the source”, DENR PENRO Cavite through the Manila Bay Site Coordinating/Management Office (MBSCMO) and Coastal and Marine Management Unit (CCMU) Cavite in partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Ternate and Maragondon spearheaded a simultaneous clean-up activity in Brgy. San Juan I and Brgy. San Jose in Ternate and Brgy. Sta. Mercedes in Maragondon.  

A total of 1,389.7 kilograms or 1.38 tons of waste were collected during the clean-up activity. The wastes collected are composed of biodegradable, residual, recyclables, and hazardous materials. Said collected wastes were hauled and disposed of by the LGUs.

The clean-up activities were actively participated-in by 320 volunteers from the LGUs, river rangers and bantay dagat, the Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), DILG-Ternate, Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (103rd, 107th, and 125th squadrons), Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Sitio Quarry, Maragondon National High School, and local community members.  ###
