CENRO Catanauan celebrates International Coastal Cleanup Day along the coastline of Sitio Dulong Buhangin, Brgy. Sta. Rosa and Sitio Paraiso, Brgy. Poblacion 4, all in Mulanay, Quezon.

It was participated by the personnel from CENRO Catanauan, LGU of Mulanay, Quezon thru their Solid Waste Management Focal, DOLE-TUPAD beneficiaries and other volunteers residing near the coastal areas of the said barangays.

With the theme “Fighting for Trash-Free Seas, Pilipinas”, the activity aims to promote awareness and bring about a sense of responsibility as well as encouraging communities to adopt good practices such as reuse, reduce and recycling, which have a profound effect on marine environment. Likewise, it is important to engage people by removing trash from their beaches,canals and waterways.

The participants were able to collect garbage with a total of 22 sacks. Common wastes collected on site were food wraps, empty sachet, bottles of personal hygiene products, diapers, plastic bottles and cups, single used plastics etc.  It was sorted and turned over to the SWM focal for final collection and disposal in the municipal sanitary landfill of Mulanay, Quezon.###
