Inventory/monitoring of inland wetlands was conducted by DENR CENRO Calaca Conservation and Development Section (CDS) in the City of Calaca on September 13, 2022

Wetlands are ecosystems that may be natural or artificial and are permanently or seasonally saturated or flooded with water that may be static or flowing. Basically, they refer to any land areas that have waterlogged soil. Inland wetland includes marshes, peatlands, floodplains, rivers, and lakes

The CDS staff were able to document four (4) major rivers in Calaca, namely, Talisay River, Dacanlao River, Cawong River and Bolbok River. Water from these rivers are commonly used for domestic purposes especially in the upper and middle stream and they are all draining out to the Balayan Bay. These rivers also house different species of freshwater aquatic species that serve as livelihood to some residents.
