In support to the collaboration of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on the DILG’s launching of its Tree Planting Project themed: “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan” and the DENR CALABARZON’s Kick-Off Activity for the Philippine Bamboo Month (as per Proclamation No. 1401) with the theme “Industriyang Kawayan, para sa Paglago ng Ekonomiya at Kalikasan”, a Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting activity was undertaken on September 13, 2022 in Sitio Lipote, Brgy. Kinalaglagan, Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas.

A total of 120 seedlings of Lagerstroemia speciosa, Acacia mangium, Acacia auriculiformis, and Annona muricata have been planted along the roadside of the said barangay. The activity was participated in by approximately 134 individuals composed of the personnel from the DILG, DENR PENRO Batangas, DENR CENROs Lipa City and Calaca City, the LGU functionaries of Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas Transport Cooperative, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), BFP– Special Rescue Force, Philippine National Police, Batangas State University, and was covered by the GMA Regional TV, UNTV, Eagle News, and PIA Batangas.

In the afternoon of the same date, a Bamboo Planting Activity was conducted in Brgy. Darasa, Tanauan City, Batangas. It was participated by staff and personnel of the Conservation and Development Section of CENRO Lipa, Manila Bay Site Coordinating/Management Office-Batangas, River Rangers, and Barangay functionaries of Brgy. Darasa, Tanauan City. A total of 100 bamboo planting stocks have been planted along the streambank of San Juan River covered by the said barangay. The activity aimed to continuously protect the San Juan River and to address soil stabilization, climate change mitigation, and increase the awareness of the community.
