In line with the launching of the simultaneous Tree Planting Project of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during the observance of the celebration of World Bamboo Day 2022 and in support to the Enhanced National Greening Program (eNGP), a total of 50 bamboo (Kawayang Tinik) and 50 fruit bearing (Guyabano and Langka) seedlings were planted along the streambank of Cañas River within in Purok II, Brgy. Gregorio Trece Martires City. An approximate area of 0.5 ha. or 5,000 sq.m within the portion of 63 hectares streambank protection under NGP CY 2014 were planted during the Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity anchoring on this year’s theme “Buhayin ang pangangalaga sa kalikasan”.  

The event was led by Cavite PENR Officer Januel R. Peras and was graced by the DILG Provincial Director Lionel Dalope together with the Executive Assistant of the City Mayor, Mr. Dominador Lucero. Ninety-three (93) volunteers from different organizations and partner agencies had actively participated in the said activity.

Volunteers were from the LGUs of Trece Martires City and Brgy. Gregorio; Wellpoint Clinic and Diagnostic Center; Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG); Provincial Information Agency Cavite (PIAC); Philippine National Police (PNP) of Trece Martires City; PNP Crime Laboratory; Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP);  Office of the Provincial Government (OPG); Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA); Provincial Government - Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO); Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO); and DENR PENRO Cavite.

PD Lionel Dalope and PENRO Peras both emphasized the vital role of the local community and local government in the conduct of the activity and in achieving the success of the program for a sustainable management, development and protection of the environment.

Before the tree planting proper, Forest Technician I Reymar Remulla demonstrated the proper handling and planting of seedlings to ensure high survival rate to the participants. Planted species include 50 Bamboo,(25 Langka and 25 Guyabano). ###
