The personnel of DENR-CENRO Calauag Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) assisted the Performance Evaluation Team for CBMA of DENR CALABARZON in the evaluation of the expiring Community-Based Forest Management Agreements (CBFMAs) possessed by two People’s Organizations (POs) in Tagkawayan and Guinayangan, Quezon, on August 3-4, 2022.

The CALABARZON PET-CBFMA evaluated the compliance of the Samahang Pampamayanan Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc. (SPPKI) on its CBFM Agreement. Results of the evaluation reveals that the SPKKI satisfactorily complied to the remedial actions in the submitted catch-up plan for the results of the previous performance evaluation conducted last September 29, 2021. Hence, the PET recommended the CBFMA of SPPKI for renewal, with an Achiever rating of 72%.

Likewise, the KASAMACA Farmers Association, Inc. (KFAI), also for renewal, garnered an Achiever rating of 72%. KFAI has both accomplished its Community Resource Management Framework (CRMF) and Five-Year Work Plan (FYWP). The PO has also an ongoing livelihood, the irrigation system funded by the PO that services the local farming industry particularly the rice production.

The CBFM Agreements of SPPKI and KFAI will expire on December 3, 2022 and December 7, 2023, respectively.

Pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 96-29, CBFMA is a benefit sharing agreement between the DENR and the participating POs towards sustainable utilization and management of portions of forestlands for a period of 25 years, renewable for another 25 years.
