As part of their regular Mission Partner’s Retreat program, Sacred Heart College of Lucena, Inc. (SHCLI) planted 300 Narra (Pterocarpus indicus) at Quezon Protected Landscape (QPL) on July 11-15, 2022.

SHCLI is a Catholic and Vincentian educational institution and part of their tradition that all their Mission Partners go through a retreat by planting trees before the formal opening of each school year. For the school year 2022-2023 theme “Refresh”, the importance of ecological aspects in human lives was highlighted. The tree planting activity has been part of SHCLI’s spiritual formation as they are continuously called to serve the environment and their stakeholders in line with their school mission.

Prior to the tree planting, the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) staff of QPL oriented the participants about the protected area and the proper way of planting.

Around 140 participants from the institution actively joined during the activity which were assigned by batch on their scheduled dates.
