On July 07, 2022, a staff of City ENRO of Sto. Tomas City, Batangas turned over two (2) Philippine long tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis philippinensis) to DENR-CENRO Lipa City. Both monkeys were said to be under the custody of the Barangay Captain of San Pedro, Sto. Tomas City, but was informed that keeping such wildlife is prohibited so he decided to turn it over to the DENR office for proper care and action.

The said wildlife is healthy and in good shape. The female has an approximate weight of 2 kg, while the male has an approximate weight of 5 kg. Based on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN, 2015) it is currently classified as “Vulnerable species”.

The said wildlife was brought to the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center (RWRC) located at Lamot II, Calauan, Laguna on July 8, 2022.
