In celebration of the Philippine Environment Month and World Ocean Day 2022, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Calaca conducted Coastal Clean-up and Tree Planting in Brgy. Bucana, Nasugbu, Batangas.

Philippine Environment Month is celebrated every month of June. This year's theme was “Aksyon Para sa Natatanging Mundo” where Simultaneous Tree Planting was conducted Nationwide.

On the other hand, World Ocean Day is held annually every 8th of June as declared by the United Nations to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans. This year 2022, it is celebrated with the theme “Revitalization: Collective Actions for the Ocean”.

The event was participated by 80 individuals from DENR CENRO Calaca headed by CENRO Isagani Q. Amatorio, PENRO Batangas headed by PENRO Noel M. Recillo, Protected Area Management Office-Taal Volcano Protected Landscape (PAMO-TVPL) represented by APASu Jasmin Andaya, Local Government Unit of Barangay Bucana, Nasugbu, Batangas headed by Captain Leon R. Esguerra, Barangay residents and Youth Sector, and Philippine Statistics Authority CALABARZON.

“Ang ating kapaligiran ay hiram lang natin sa ating mga anak at sa kanilang mga magiging anak, kaya naman nararapat lamang na atin itong pahalagahan upang may madadatnat parin silang maayos at malinis na kalikasan”. PENRO Recillo pointed out the importance of sustainable use of the environment for the future generations.

In total, 300 Calophyllum inophyllum (Bitaog) seedlings were planted within the 35-hectare NGP plantation, while 20 sacks of garbage were collected during the conduct of coastal clean-up.
