The CENRO Calauag Protected Area Suitability Assessment (PASA) Team continues its field assessment and screening of the second subject watershed, the Lopez Watershed Forest Reserve (LWFR) this month of May.

LWFR is one of the initial components of Republic Act No. 11038, otherwise known as Expanded National Integrated Protected Area System (E-NIPAS) Act of 2018 that needs evaluation for its suitability as Protected Area under the Act.

Upon the effectivity of the said Act, the DENR is mandated to undertake activities relevant to the establishment or disestablishment of the initial components. These include provision of maps with technical descriptions, assessment of the area, and public consultations.

The PASA in LWFR is expected to be accomplished before June 2022 ends.
