DENR CENRO Lipa recently conducted a Dalaw Turo activity at Brgy. Malabrigo, Lobo, Batangas on May 13, 2022. Twenty-four (24) students had fun learning about environmental protection and conservation, specifically about coastal and marine ecosystems and proper solid waste management practices. The students were from Grades 5 and 6 of Malabrigo Elementary School and from Grade 7 of Malabrigo National High School.

The Dalaw Turo program includes discussion on the importance of oceans and about marine turtles. An overview of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, and a discussion on mitigating the effects of climate change were also included in the lecture. The students were engaged through an activity called “web of life” to further instill knowledge and expand appreciation about science. The participants also recited their commitment and willingness to help save the ocean and marine life.

The Dalaw Turo activity is conducted in partnership with the academic institution and the communities to heighten their awareness on DENR’s programs and projects as well as to inform the participants on their roles in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. ###
