The Manila Bay Site Coordinating Management Office – Batangas held a river clean-up and tree planting activities at Barangay San Pablo, City of Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The activities conducted are in support of the celebration of Month of the Ocean with this year’s theme “Protect and Restore Ecosystems and Biodiversity”.

Together with the local government unit of Barangay San Pablo, the clean-up was attended by barangay volunteers, hired river rangers, and staff from the Conservation and Development Section of this Office.

The event aims to raise awareness among its stakeholders in addressing the adverse effects of climate change and to remind the citizens that it is their duly responsibility to clean and rehabilitate the San Juan River. Approximately, thirty (30) sacks of solid waste materials were recovered and about fifty (50) assorted seedlings composed of different species such as coffee, cacao, molave, dao, and guyabano were planted along the stretch of the riverbank. ###
