Mangrove planting was conducted on Saturday, March 12, 2022, by the DENR CENRO Calaca in partnership with ZAMA Precision Industry Manufacturing Philippines Inc. and Local Government Unit of Brgy. Onse Nasugbu, Batangas.

This activity was part of the agreement signed on February 5, 2021 between DENR and ZAMA under the National Greening Program (NGP) and platform "Tayo ang Kalikasan" where the said company aims to establish a five-hectare mangrove plantation in Brgy. Onse, Nasugbu, Batangas which is a graduated NGP site within the jurisdiction of DENR-CENRO Calaca.

About 2,000 of Api-api (Avicennia officinalis) were planted in a one-hectare mangrove plantation during the conduct of this year’s activity. Prior to this, ZAMA were able to plant 2,500 Bakauan Female (Rhizophora mucronata) and Bakauan stone (Rhizophora stylosa) in a one-hectare mangrove plantation last year 2021. This activity shall continue until year 2025 with a total target of 12,500 mangroves to be planted.

The DENR continues to encourage various groups and individuals to participate in the protection, conservation and rehabilitation of the mangrove forests through engagement and participation in environmental activities such as mangrove planting. ###
