
The Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) in partnership with the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau-Urban and Biodiversity Research, Development, and Extension Center (ERDB-URBDEC) organized a two-day training on Mangrove Nursery Establishment and Planting Stocks Production to the Federation of small fisherfolk organization in San Francisco, Quezon. Technical personnel from the Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office also attended the activity.
Six fisherfolk organizations from barangays Cawayan-I, Casay, Don Juan Vercelos, Ibabang Tayuman, Poblacion, and Silongin participated in the training.
The activity is a touch base activity of OISCA for the local fisherfolk associations, which aims to capacitate them with the proper knowledge and skills in the establishment of Mangrove Nursery that may help in ensuring the success of future mangrove activities in the Municipality of San Francisco.
One of the objectives of OISCA is to elevate people’s consciousness while securing the well-being of the present and future generations by having a harmonious relationship with nature and all living beings on Earth which they called a “Bayanihan Spirit”.
The OISCA, in coordination with the CENR Office of Catanauan, are adopting graduated mangrove plantation sites of the National Greening Program for enhancement and biodiversity improvement within the Municipality of San Francisco, Quezon.###
