On March 8, 2022, PENRO Eriberto B. Saños headed the recognition ceremony of five (5) female personnel who were acknowledged for their outstanding performance and significant contribution to Gender and Development (GAD) mainstreaming in PENRO Laguna. Assisted by Abigail C. Ongkiatco - GAD Focal Person, certificates and token of appreciation were presented and distributed as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day which is annually celebrated every 8th of March.

Similarly, all female personnel were recognized for their exemplary service to the people and contribution to gender equality and women empowerment (GEWE). PENRO Saños reiterated that men also have an important role to play in promoting GEWE.

This year’s celebration calls on government agencies and stakeholders to celebrate the gains and be proactive in preventing backslides from what have been already achieved in GEWE. Moreover, the celebration highlights the demand to cause immediate attention and solution on essential gender issues and that inclusive and sustainable development is only possible when GEWE becomes obtainable.
