Spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Tayabas, a kick-off program was conducted on March 7, 2022 in observance to the month-long of March as the celebration of the National Women’s Month, held at CENRO Building, Brgy. Potol, Tayabas City.

During the program, the calendar of activities of CENRO Tayabas for GAD was announced including the: 1) hanging of 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) advocacy streamer; 2) conducting of GAD forum/agenda setting to discuss gender issues that would help to resolve, minimize, given their mandates, and assess internal concerns that need attention; 3) setting up a photobooth at the lobby of CENRO Tayabas showcasing the movement “Men of Quality Support Gender Equality”; 4) production of GAD Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials; and 5) guesting in a radio program to tackle CENRO Tayabas  GAD mainstreaming strategies, plans, programs and accomplishments in the implementation of GAD participation in celebrating International Day of Women “Serbisyo Para Kay Juana”.

As Serbisyo Para Kay Juana offers treats, free services and other kind of ways of giving back to women and recognizing their significant contributions in the society, each of the first ten (10) external clients of CENRO Tayabas received a token – one (1) budded calamansi seedling, vitamins and facemasks.

With the recurring theme “We Make CHANGE Work for Women” and sub theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran” for the year 2022, CENRO Tayabas employees shared during the kick-off program their experiences on how women stand up for their rights, break barriers, challenge stereotypes in relation to the implementation of environmental laws and serving as an example of change, as it aims to emphasize the gains achieved for girls and women, gender equality and women empowerment.

Everyone was also encouraged to join #PurpleTuesdays this Women’s Month by wearing anything purple every Tuesdays of March, to signify support for women empowerment and gender equality.
