CENRO Tayabas celebrated the love month by participating in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Forest Management Bureau’s (DENR-FMB) Tree Hugging Campaign on February 14, 2022 at Quezon Protected Landscape (QPL) and Mts. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape.

This campaign is a week-long event from February 14-18, 2022, done by hugging trees that aims to raise awareness on the importance of tree hugging movement which originated in the 1970s in Northern India known as the “Chipko Movement”, and promote social/health benefits that people can derive from nurturing trees or forests.

Hugging a tree increases levels of hormones that are responsible for the calmness and emotional well-being of a person. Further, spending time around trees can lower blood pressure and heart rate, improve immunity, and reduce stress and anxiety levels.
