Los Baños, Laguna – PENRO Laguna and CENRO Sta. Cruz conducted a Consultation Meeting with its key stakeholders to discuss the Work and Financial Plan (WFP) for the fiscal year 2022 as well as present the forward plans of the office for fiscal years 2023-2025 last January 18, 2022, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall DENR Compound Lalakay, Los Baños, Laguna. The said meeting was attended by representatives from partner local government units (LGUs) within the province virtually through the Zoom Application due to existing health protocols. Newly assigned PENRO Eriberto B. Saños, OIC-CENRO Venerando U. Garcia, Division Chiefs, Section Chiefs, Unit Heads, and planning staff also joined the meeting.

The meeting conducted is part of the DENR’s commitment to ensure continuous collaborations with stakeholders in planning its programs and projects, uphold transparency and participatory governance, and solicit support and proposed strategies for better implementation of the identified programs and projects. Likewise, through the consultation meeting, LGUs were able to share their ideas and suggestions on what programs, projects, and activities are more suitable and relevant to their respective communities, which can be the basis of PENRO Laguna and CENRO Sta. Cruz in its forward planning in the years to come.

PENRO Eriberto B. Saños in his message pointed out the importance of strengthened partnership and collaborations between the DENR, LGUs, and other partner organizations for a more holistic approach to the protection and management of the environment and natural resources in the province.

Among the environmental issues and concerns tackled during the consultation meeting were solid waste management, watershed protection & conservation, and the roles and devolved functions of the LGUs in environmental protection.

Also discussed were the status of Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) in the province as of CY 2021, tatus of Solid Waste Management in the Province of Laguna, Highlights of FY 2021 Provincial Stakeholders Consultation Workshop which was held on January 18, 2021, and activities and accomplishments of Manila Bay Site Coordinating Management Office - Laguna for FY 2021.
