Catanauan, Quezon – Early morning on January 18, 2022, CENRO Catanauan initiates the conduct of coastal clean-up activity for this year’s National Zero Waste Month Celebration at the coastal area of Brgy. 7 Poblacion, Catanauan, Quezon. The activity was led by OIC, CENRO Ramil J. Gutierrez and some CENRO personnel together with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Catanauan, Quezon thru the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) and staff; representatives from Other National Government Agencies (OGAs) such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP); Brgy. Officials, 4Ps members and resident of Brgy. 7 Poblacion, Catanauan, Quezon.

In the orientation led by OIC, Ramil J. Gutierrez, he said “In this hard time caused by COVID-19 Pandemic, we need to have a better environment”. He also encouraged all the participating agencies and individuals to engage in this kind of activity and support DENR activities despite of the Pandemic.

January is declared as National Zero Waste Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 760, dated May 5, 2014, with an advocacy to promote designing and managing of products and processes to avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste materials, and the key in achieving this goal is to be a responsible citizen for a brighter and healthier environment.

A total of 18 sacks of plastic and residual wastes were collected in the site and sorted for further collection of the Municipal Garbage Collector of Catanauan, Quezon for its final disposal.###
