Juvenile Philippine Long-Tailed Macaque rescued in San Juan, Batangas

Found chained to a bamboo pole, one juvenile Philippine long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis) was promptly rescued by CENRO Lipa enforcement team, in response to a call from a concerned citizen through the 8888 Citizen’s Complaint Hotline at Brgy. Hugom, San Juan, Batangas on January 17, 2022. It was turned-over to the Region IV-A Wildlife Rescue Center situated in Calauan, Laguna the following day and was examined to be in good health condition.

In support to the campaign against illegal activities to wildlife, the CENRO Lipa City through the Enforcement and Monitoring Section personnel, conducted an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign at Brgy. Hugom about illegal possession of wildlife. The Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, provides restrictions to safeguard Philippine flora and fauna and anyone who will be found guilty in violation of the law will be penalized accordingly.
