Malitlit, Lipa City - CENRO Lipa continues to vigorously pursue the DENR's mandate through activities and programs that mobilize the different stakeholders, raise awareness and commitment and firm up partnerships with various sectors of the local communities for the conservation and protection of the environment and natural resources.

On November 12, 2021, the staff and personnel of the Enforcement and Monitoring Section (EMS) conducted a capacity building on the strengthening and mobilization of the Community Fire Brigade in Brgy. Malitlit, Lipa City which was attended by a total of seventeen (17) barangay officials and tanods composed of thirteen (13) male and four (4) female. The Community Fire Brigade was institutionalized in the area in response to the reports on fire incidents that were usually occurring within the forest areas especially during dry season. The Mount Malarayat Forest Reserve, which is within the jurisdiction of Brgys. Sto. NiƱo, San Celestino, Talisay, and Malitlit of the City of Lipa, exhibits a remarkable and abundant forest cover and resources and is also the site for significant DENR projects,  i.e. established NGP sites, look-out tower and fireline, and implementation of LAWIN patrolling activities.

Recently, no forest fire incident has been monitored and reported by the Office and this is being attributed to the strategic interventions and measures, and the daily monitoring being conducted by the Office in strong partnership and close coordination with the partner Barangay LGU and People's Organization (PO) in the area.

Furthermore, quarterly meetings of Community Fire Brigade were being conducted by CENRO Lipa to ensure that updates on the different issuances, guidelines and policies are being disseminated and explained to the local sectors concerned,  as well as to address the various issues and challenges that partner stakeholders have encountered in the performance of their duties and responsibilities especially during patrolling and monitoring activities.

At the end of the activity, the participants spearheaded by the Barangay Officials, unanimously expressed their commitment to provide utmost support and cooperation to prevent the occurrences of any untoward incidents and to ensure the sustained efforts in the conservation and protection of the environment and natural resources. ###
