Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign regarding the Implementing Rules and Regulation of Presidential Decree No. 1067, also known as the Water Code of the Philippines was conducted on September 28, 2021 by DENR CENRO Calaca spearheaded by OIC-CENR Officer Isagani Q. Amatorio in Sitio Iba, Brgy. Papaya, Nasugbu, Batangas.

The activity intends to inform the community of the existing laws on the management, conservation, and protection of forest, environment and natural resources within the subject barangay. Also, to strengthen the partnership and ensure the cooperation of our local partners, LGUs, and local communities, amidst the current situation due to COVID-19.

In his discussion, OIC-CENRO Isagani Q. Amatorio highlighted Article 51 of Presidential Decree 1067, wherein the foreshore and salvage zone management and the legal easement were conferred. He also emphasized that no permanent structures should be introduced in the salvage zone/foreshore areas and it should be open and accessible to the public and community.

Further, Atty. Leoncio Hernandez explained that the lot owner adjoining to the salvage and foreshore areas has the preferential right to utilize the area however shall apply for Foreshore Lease Agreement or Miscellaneous Lease Agreement from the DENR for legal utilization and occupation over the said areas.

A total of 35 participants (22 males and 13 females) composed of DAR-MARO staff, Sitio Iba and Limbones residents and CENRO Calaca personnel participated in the said activity. ###
