Last August, the DENR CENRO Calaca conducted coastal clean-up as maintenance activity for marine turtle nesting site in barangay Sta. Ana, Calatagan, Batangas. The activity aims to maintain and protect the existing marine turtle nesting site in the area as well as to raise awareness and promote community participation for marine turtle conservation and protection.

The activity was participated in by twenty (20) participants (17 male and 3 female) composed of Barangay Officials of Sta. Ana Calatagan, Batangas.

A total of 10 sacks of solid waste were collected composed mainly of plastic and glass bottles, drinking straws, and cigarette butts along the shoreline of Brgy Sta Ana Calatagan with approximate length of 800 meters. The collected wastes were picked up by the garbage truck collector of the LGU Sta Ana for proper waste disposal.

Further, 100 pcs of IEC materials were distributed to the participants including t-shirt printed with "Let's protect our Marine Turtles", baseball cap printed with "Lets Save Our Marine Turtle", flyers/brochure regarding: Things to do when you see marine turtle in beach, Types of marine turtles in the Philippines, Marine turtle life cycle and Importance of marine turtles.

Health and safety measures against the COVID-19 virus were properly observed and practiced during the conduct of the activity.
