In celebration of the 2021 International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC) anchoring on a theme “Understand and Beat Marine Pollution,” PENRO Cavite thru its Coastal and Marine Management Unit (CMMU) had conducted a coastal clean-up and SCUBAsurero (underwater clean-up) activity in Ranrich Beach Resort, Brgy. San Jose, Ternate, Cavite on September 17, 2021. The activity was participated-in by thirty-eight (38) volunteers comprised of twenty-five (25) males and thirteen (13) females from DENR PENRO- CAVITE, LGU Ternate, and representatives from Brgy. San Jose, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) and Ternate Marine Park (TMP) volunteer divers. A total of 260kg or 26 sacks of waste were collected within a 300-400 meters shoreline of Barangay San,Jose, Ternate. Most of the collected wastes are pet bottles, plastic sachets, candy wrappers, disposable utensils, plastic bags and used face-mask. Other wastes collected were glass bottles, shoes, and bags. Wastes collected were hauled by Ternate Municipal Garbage collector and disposed to their accredited waste disposal facility. Furthermore, health and safety measures against COVID-19 were properly observed and practiced during the activity.
