Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign regarding Mobilization of the Community Fire Brigade in Barangay Sucol, Balayan, Batangas was conducted on September 15, 2021 by the Monitoring and Enforcement Section of DENR CENRO Calaca.

The activity generally aims to engage the communities specifically the elected and appointed Team Leader and Team Members to lead and promote active participation in line with the protection, conservation, and management of the subject area.

The team shared during the activity that the target establishment and maintenance of the 18kms fireline within Barangay Sucol for the year 2021 is already completed, likewise, they were still advised to continuously monitor and patrol the area.

Further, reiteration on the roles as the counterpart of the DENR CENRO Calaca in reporting of any illegal act that can cause a forest fire or any destruction to the forestland area within their jurisdiction was also discussed. Specifically, the Fire Brigade is created to guard the National Greening Program (NGP) sites and the remaining forests against all forms of destruction especially from wildfires through the active involvement of communities/barangays within and bordering the area.

A total of 20 participants (13 males and 7 females) composed of Brgy. Officials of Sucol, Members of People’s Organization of Mountain Side Farmers Association Brgy Sucol, the Team Leader and Team members of the Community Fire Brigade and DENR CENRO Calaca personnel attended the said activity.

Likewise, health and safety measures specifically wearing of face mask and physical distancing were properly observed and practiced following the guidelines of Inter- Agency Task Force against COVID-19 during the conduct of the activity. ###
