DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria chaired the Consultation Meeting with fisherfolk, baklad/ sapra operators, and mussel growers in the Province of Cavite on July 9, 2021 at Barangay Sineguelasan, Bacoor City, Cavite. The stakeholders were consulted on how wastes generated from fishing practices can be managed better, address various issues and concerns on tahong operations in Manila Bay Area, and to come up with strategies to solve the issues.

There were almost a hundred representatives from the Fisherfolks, baklad/ sapra, and tahungan growers sector of Bacoor City. Representatives from the LGU and other stakeholders including Mr. Allan Chua, City Agriculture Officer of City of Bacoor, CG PO1 Rolando O. Mantes II, PO1C- Marine Environmental Protection Unit Cavite, and CG PO1 Rodil P. Taupo, Sub-Station Commander, Coast Guard Sub-Station Bacoor.

Moreover, Dir. Tamoria together with For. Cynthia N. Rozaldo, Deputy Regional Coordinator and For Judaline A. Fabro, MBSCMO Cavite Focal Person inspected the aquaculture and other fishing activities practiced by fisherfolks within the coastal waters of Bacoor City aboard a trash boat.

A Cavite Coastal Clean Up is scheduled on July 16, 2021. DENR CALABARZON is inviting all coastal communities to conduct regular clean ups to maintain a healthy marine environment.
