OIC CENR Officer Januel Peras together with PEMU Batangas Head Forester Luisa Garcia, EMB Regional Office representative and PENRO Batangas OIC Chief for Technical Services Division LMO III Allan Willard Estillore led the closure of the controlled dump facility in the Municipality of Cuenca, Batangas.

Results of the validation/ inspection disclosed that the said open dumpsite was sanctioned under Section 37 of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

A Cease and Desist Order was also issued unless and until compliance with the provisions of the existing environmental laws have been observed.

Moreover, said dump site was ordered to immediately rehabilitate  in pursuant to DENR Administrative Order No. 09 series of 2006 or the General Guidelines in the Closure and Rehabilitation of open dumpsites and Controlled Dump Facilities.
